Slaton Bakery, one of the Oldest Bakeries in Texas

The Slaton Bakery is not the oldest continuously open bakery in Texas. That honor would probably go to the Naegelin’s German Bakery located in New Braunfels and dating to 1868. However, few other bakeries are as old as the Slaton Bakery which turns 100 years old this year, having been open since 1923. No bakery in Houston, Dallas, Ft. Worth or Austin that we have found is older.
