Slaton, Texas, Texas Air Museum
The Texas Air Museum is an extraordinary place that one could spend days exploring. One can go to Dallas and see a larger Air Museum, but in truth, there is only a handful in the country larger than that of the Air Museum in Slaton, Texas.

The Texas Air Museum is entirely volunteer run by a group of devoted people who restore, preserve and share the history of military aviation. They also fly and maintain the museum’s airworthy exhibits. Members who have paid a fee can begin to sponsor aircraft and become museum pilots

Here, one finds both functioning aircraft and nonfunction but still very interesting aircraft. And considering that it is rarely overwhelmed with visitors, it’s a nice place to stroll about with the kids and has a good close look at these war birds.

In addition, several areas contain additional displays from model aircraft to bombs and uniforms.

They also frequently sponsor fly-ins for area pilots.
